rBGH
Free Dairy: A Choice For You!
Recombinant Bovine Growth
Hormone, or rBGH, is a synthetic hormone used by some farmers to
increase milk production. We believe that consumers wishing
to
avoid dairy products containing milk from rBGH-treated cows should have
that choice. Although the FDA has determined that rBGH is
safe,
many consumers have indicated that for a wide variety of personal,
social or political reasons, they want to buy dairy products made from
milk produced by untreated cows.
All
farmers providing milk to Lamers Dairy Inc have pledged NOT to treat their cows with rBGH.
Wisconsin state law authorizes us to rely on those pledges and to
inform consumers of the farmers' promises.
Lamers Dairy Inc is
committed to remaining rBGH-free and will continue to provide consumers
with a clear and concise statement of our policy. We want
all
our customers to continue to enjoy our quality Dairy.
More Dairy Facts
Consumption of dairy products as a part of a nutrient-rich diet has
long been recognized as an important contributor to maintaining health
and nutrition for people of all ages. Diets rich in milk, cheese, yogurt
and other dairy products provide important vitamins and minerals
essential for human growth and development. Find out more about
nutrition goals, recommended daily calcium allowances, health benefits
of dairy foods and additional nutrition resources. Dairy products are an excellent source of
nutrients, including calcium, protein, potassium, phosphorus, and
vitamins A and D. In addition to helping build strong bones, low fat
dairy products can help reduce your risk of hypertension and certain
cancers, and can play a role in better weight management. No matter what your age, you need calcium
as an important part of your diet. Depending on how old you are,
however, the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of calcium intake
changes. Keep reading to find out how much calcium you need. Everybody knows dairy products are an essential
part of a healthy, balanced diet, and although preventing osteoporosis
is often the first thing people think of when they consider the health
benefits of consuming dairy products, there is a growing list of ways
that dairy can improve your health. Lactose intolerance is a frequently
misunderstood condition. It is not a food allergy nor does it mean you
have to give up dairy products completely. Read on to find out how to
manage this uncomfortable condition.
The debilitating bone disease osteoporosis is a major public health
threat for 34 million Americans aged 50 and older. There is no cure for
this disease, but health experts agree that an adequate intake of
calcium throughout life, especially in childhood and adolescence, is an
important step to building strong bones and preventing osteoporosis.
It can be crippling, expensive and sometimes
deadly. The lack of calcium in the American diet – which can lead to
osteoporosis and other health problems – is now a public health
priority. With 28 million Americans afflicted with osteoporosis and
$13.8 billion dollars in associated health costs, it's time to count
your calcium. If you're similar to most Americans, your diet
is lacking calcium. And that puts your health, especially your bones, at
risk. The key to increasing this valuable nutrient is to know where to
find it. Although you may be led to believe that a pill or other
fortified food is the answer, think again. Milk and other dairy products
are the richest source of calcium you can find — with a lot of other
benefits to boot!
